Creating A Cover Letter

The cover letter provides an initial impression of you and your qualifications relating to the company. It explains why you are the perfect candidate for the internship or job. Standard cover letters are broken into three main parts:

a. Lead paragraph:

The lead paragraph provides the who, what, when, where and why. This is a brief one or two sentence paragraph highlighting your interest in the opportunity.

b. Qualifications paragraph:

Emphasize your qualifications and skills matching the internship program. Explain why you are the perfect candidate for the job or internship. You can highlight your interests and goals, but be brief in your descriptions.

c. Closing paragraph:

End the letter stating why you are the perfect candidate for the position. Also, be sure to thank the employer for their consideration of your resume.
